I grew up in the vibrant city of Guadalajara, Mexico, and made my way to San Jose, California, when I turned 18. My husband works at San Jose State University, and together we have three wonderful adult sons and a daughter who is off pursuing her dreams in college. In my free time, you can usually find me in the kitchen whipping up something delicious or enjoying peaceful morning walks.
I’m a proud graduate of Evergreen College and have dedicated over 20 years to the retail industry. As one of six siblings, I learned the value of teamwork and preparation early on. My parents emphasized the importance of being ready for anything, whether it was achieving an “A” on a spelling test, acing an interview, or saving for my first car. The premature loss of my eldest brother at 18 serves as a poignant reminder to always be prepared for the unexpected. With over 30 years in the insurance industry, I find great fulfillment in caring for and protecting my extended State Farm family. The values of love, care, and protection I embraced in my childhood continue to guide my professional and personal life.
One of my favorite childhood memories is giving my mother a dandelion, completely unaware it was a weed. Seeing her radiant smile from such a small gesture ignited my passion for giving. I thrive on participating in charity events, mentoring individuals and groups, and refining my American Sign Language skills to create a more inclusive environment. A warm fire on a sandy beach is one of my happiest places, and I love to travel—only 14 states to go to complete my quest to visit all 50! Oh, and I have a special fondness for peanut butter that I could talk about for hours.
